LOGSOL first analyzed the material flows based on the actual process recording and using material flow movement data from a representative period. In addition, the logistics processes, such as incoming goods and order picking, were recorded and evaluated in terms of time using MTM® (Methods-Time-Measurement). Based on this, a waste analysis of the individual processes was carried out and organizational measures for improvement were derived. The optimized processes were also evaluated in terms of time using MTM® and their potential identified. Furthermore, based on the material flow analysis, alternative transport concepts were tested and functional areas in the halls were dimensioned. The findings from the process and material flow analysis were incorporated into the optimization of the warehouse structure. In particular, the conversion of the racking technology from pallet racking to shelf storage for small parts (approx. 60% of the product range) was recommended. The project was concluded with a recommendation for action based on the findings of the warehouse, material flow and process analysis to implement the measures.
