Environmental technology from Saxony all over the world
Responsible use of natural resources such as air and water is a challenge for industrial companies all over the world. Special treatment systems are therefore required to comply with the sometimes strict limits for a clean environment. A leading provider of such environmental technologies comes from the Saxon state capital. From its headquarters in Dresden, DAS Environmental Expert GmbH supplies companies all over the world with customized turnkey and point-of-use solutions for wastewater treatment and waste gas disposal. The environmental experts develop and produce their pioneering solutions at the site in accordance with high German industry standards. The focus here is also on researching new technologies, such as an innovative process for reducing energy consumption and NOx reduction. DAS’s international service and support is provided directly on site via its branches in Taiwan, China, Singapore, Argentina, Peru and the USA.
Since the development of the current headquarters, DAS has been pursuing continuous growth: starting with around 50% of the production area in use in 2008, the development quickly led to full capacity utilization and culminated in the newly built extension for Elt production in 2016. As things stand, the production, logistics, innovation and administration areas in Dresden are spread over a total of in Dresden are spread over a total area of 9,500 m². DAS is forecasting further increases in capacity for the coming years and is already planning the next expansion. This includes the integration of an innovation center. LOGSOL supported the family-run company with the associated site concept. The aim of the project was to determine the optimal space allocation, taking into account the growth and innovation requirements. There were two basic approaches to this: either extend the existing building or incorporate the adjacent, unused company property? To clarify this question, LOGSOL first recorded all relevant customer data and analyzed the site’s processes and corresponding interfaces. Among other things, the values determined were used to rethink DAS’s order throughput.
The next step in the project was the area extrapolation. On this basis, LOGSOL developed various location scenarios and compared them as part of a utility value analysis. The customer was particularly impressed by the clear presentation of important influencing factors, such as transportation routes, building permits, production downtimes, expandability, environmental influences, etc, environmental influences, etc. At the end of the project, DAS was able to make a well-founded decision in favor of the Dresden site. The detailed layout created by LOGSOL ultimately included both the partial conversion of the existing building and the development of the adjacent site.
With the new location concept, DAS aims to further strengthen its leading position in the global market and is laying the foundations to be able to optimally manage the increase in space to ≈ 20,000 m² and the capacity increase of +160% at the Dresden headquarters by 2030.
